This article goes deeper into how Playlist and Quiz metrics are calculated. For a general overview of all stats, see Understanding Your Stats. For filter options, see Stats Filters & Views.

Playlist Metrics in Detail

Started

A user counts as "started" once they interact with any part of the playlist, which typically means opening the first Bite.

When the playlist has been shared via the Communication Hub, Started is displayed as a ratio of users who started vs. total recipients (e.g., 6/7 or 86%). When it hasn't been shared via the Hub, only the raw number of users who started is shown.

Progress

Progress measures how far users have gotten through the playlist on average. It is always displayed as a percentage.

How it's calculated (Funnel View):

Only users who started the playlist are included. For each active user, the system counts the number of Bites they've viewed. The formula is:

Progress = (Total Bites viewed by all started users) / (Number of Bites in playlist Γ— Number of started users) Γ— 100

How it's calculated (Absolute View):

The denominator changes to the total audience (shared with or all workspace users) instead of only started users.

Example (Funnel View):

A playlist has 7 Bites. 6 users started it. Their individual progress:

  • Person 1: 0/7 Bites viewed

  • Person 2: 1/7

  • Person 3: 3/7

  • Person 4: 5/7

  • Person 5: 7/7

  • Person 6: 7/7

Total Bites viewed: 0+1+3+5+7+7 = 23

Maximum possible: 7 Γ— 6 = 42

Progress: 23/42 = 55%

Completed

A user is counted as "completed" when every Bite in the playlist has been marked as done.

In Funnel View, Completed is shown out of the users who started.
In Absolute View, it's shown out of the total audience.

Success

Success measures how well users answered questions across the playlist. It is always displayed as a percentage.

The calculation is based only on questions that users actually answered. If a user skipped all questions in the playlist, their success rate is counted as 0%.

In Funnel View, the denominator is users who started the playlist. In Absolute View, it's the total audience.

Quiz Metrics in Detail

Started

A user counts as "started" once they interact with any part of the quiz (typically opening the first question).

Completed

A user is counted as "completed" when they've finished the entire quiz.

In Funnel View, Completed is shown out of those who started. In Absolute View, it's out of the total audience.

Success

The success rate is calculated from the questions users answered.

In Funnel View: correct answers divided by total answers received.

In Absolute View: correct answers relative to the total audience.

View By Attributes vs. View By People

Both Playlist and Quiz stats offer two viewing modes:

View By Attributes

Aggregates data by organizational attributes (e.g., department, location, role). Available in both absolute and percentage modes. The Total Bar appears on both the aggregated view and when drilling into a specific attribute.

View By People

Shows individual user data. For playlists, this includes Progress and Success (both percentage only). For quizzes, this shows Success only (percentage only).

The Total Bar is displayed on all screens: aggregated attributes, focused attribute, and individual user views.
